Google Ancient Places

Data (Pelagios annotations) :

Google Ancient Places (GAP) project addresses these two primary concerns of discovery and usability using ancient world places as the target information that we want to able to find and visualize.

For visualization purposes, we have used a single-screen application with various components to help the reader navigate through a text geospatially. See the GapVis interface to start playing.

SPQR addresses the integration of heterogeneous datasets in the humanities, specifically data relating to classical antiquity, using a linked data approach and based on the recently published Europeana Data Model (EDM).
SPQR has been working on converting epigraphic data – data about inscriptions in the ancient world – to linked data.

Open Context

Open Context is a free, open access resource for the electronic publication of primary field research from archaeology and related disciplines.

Data (Pelagios annotations) : is a collaborative effort to provide stable digital representations of numismatic concepts and entities, for example the generic idea of a coin hoard or an actual hoard as documented in the print publication An Inventory of Greek Coin Hoards (IGCH). provides a short, often recognizable, URI for each resource it defines and presents the related information in both human and machine readable form. Creators of digital content can use these stable URIs to build a web of linked knowledge that enables faster acquisition and analysis of well-structured numismatic data.

Regnum Francorum Online

Regnum Francorum Online, interactive maps and sources of early medieval Europe, is a geospatial database with the aim of referencing historical events of Late Antiquity and Early Medieval (western) Europe to evidence in source-documents, compiling meta-data about the events, such as time, space and agency, and visualizing the events on interactive maps.

Data from the partners are integrated into Pelagios as RDF annotations to Pleiades places using OAC vocabulary.
